The Short.io MCP Server connects AI agents to Short.io’s link management platform, enabling them to create, search, and manage short links programmatically within Caylex projects. Agents can create branded short links with custom slugs, titles, and destination URLs across any domain associated with your Short.io account, including advanced configurations such as device-based redirect rules. The server supports workflow automation around link creation and discovery, making it well-suited for marketing campaigns, content distribution, and performance tracking use cases. Authentication is handled via a Short.io API key passed as an Authorization header, which users configure when adding the server to their Caylex project.
Prerequisites:
  • An active Short.io account is required.
  • A Short.io API key must be generated from the Integrations & API section of the Short.io dashboard before connecting the server in Caylex.
  • At least one custom domain must be configured in your Short.io account to create short links.
Important API details:
  • Editing or deleting existing short links is not supported through the MCP server; to update a link, manually delete it from the Short.io dashboard and create a new one via the agent.
  • Creating short links requires specifying a domain already connected to your Short.io account — the agent cannot create links on arbitrary domains.
  • Supported agent prompts include creating short links, creating device-targeted links, searching links by destination URL, and finding the most popular links for a domain.
